Sample AI Disclosure for a Case Report Submission
A reference disclosure paragraph clinicians can adapt when submitting a case report to a journal that has updated its AI use guidance.
Case reports often receive less editorial scrutiny than original research, which is exactly why disclosure language matters more, not less. Editors notice when an author treats it as a real disclosure rather than a checkbox.
Sample language: "Generative AI was used during preparation of this case report for prose refinement, structural feedback, and clinical reasoning checks against case timelines. Clinical findings, diagnoses, and management decisions reflect the author's independent clinical judgment. A contemporaneous record of AI consultation and the author's adoption decisions is retained and available to the editorial office on request."
The construction matters: assistance type first, then explicit clinician ownership of clinical decisions, then verifiability. Each clause closes a different challenge an editor or peer reviewer might raise.
